PICKING LICKS/PICKING SEQUENCES... 303 of them!

A LONG TIME AGO IN A GALAXY FAR FAR AWAY...

Well, about 20 years ago on a shitty council estate in the middle of nowhere in South Wales, I was learning to pick and to move sequences or "Licks" around the fretboard.

I spent 2-5 hours a day in my room with my guitar and a metronome playing picking licks!

I've been getting a few requests for some licks and patterns for people to play in all the scale patterns I have been putting up on the site, so what I've done is just scan my 20 year old handwritten in biro notes from when I was learning to do this and building up my technique.

It's not lazy, it gives the blog character!

I didn't really see the need to make any new shiny diagrams or TAB for this because anyone who gets into this sort of thing just needs somebody to show them their first pattern or two, and then you start making your own.

Essentially what I've scanned and popped up below are my notes from when I was doing just that. I stole the first couple I learned from Paul Gilbert and Vinnie Moore and off I went.

I got tired of making up a sequence, thinking, "that's really cool!" then forgetting it the next night, so I just wrote down every one I practiced (and a huge number that I meant to practice and never got around to I guess) so I wouldn't forget them and would have a library to refer back to later.

LESSON ON MOVING SEQUENCES WILL BE COMING SOON

You probably don't need 303 of them, but since I had them all written down anyway...
