IONIAN b2

2021 publishing frenzy continues!!!

This time IONIAN b2 (1, b2, v3, 4, 5, 6, 7.)

This glaring omission now means that once all its modes are up, then every possible permutation of standard modes with sharp or flat something is one here.

Also a quick apology to anyone who left a comment and was ignored while the blog has been dormant. I thought I had set things up so I would get a notification of any comments and but for some reason that did not happen.

Anyhow... on with the dots!

Kamavardhini Scale

The Kamavardhini Scale (Some times without the H) is an Indian scale containing the intervals: 1, b2, 3, #4, 5, b6, 7.

I discovered this through an Instagram post, and go really excited because I'd not heard it before. I had a quick play and a google. According to Wikipedia, Kamavardhini literally means "that which increases desire".

So use this sparingly :-)

MINOR PENTATONIC ADD 3

Right... it's been a very long time since I've added any content. We've all been fairly distracted in that time I guess, but after nearly a year of sitting in the house I'm feeling the urge to get some content up again.

Last post was a combined version of Major and Minor Blues scales. I didn't like it but it as an interesting exercise. Today's scale, Minor Pentatonic with an added 3 (1,b3,3,4,5,b7.) gives the sort of vibe I was hoping for with that.

I've mapped it out in Blues Scale format, adding notes to the standard pentatonic boxes but this does mean there are some stretches that a lot of people might find tricky, so I've also done them as boxes that eliminate the need for the longer reaches.

Enjoy!
