I had my first gig with my new head a JET CITY AMPLIFICATION JCA20H all valve 20 watt head.
The gig on Monday was a great night. We had been due to be first on of three or four depending what poster you read, but in the end we were main support. Main support at The Underworld ain't bad for gig number 3!
The guys from NINJA GUN were great, and I borrowed a cool old Marshall 1960A to run the head through from them. It was an unusual night for us though because we played as a four piece with just one guitar. Stevi couldn't make this one so Mr Sober Dave took over on bass for the show. I did feel a little exposed being on a decent sized stage with no rhythm guitar to hide being, but I soon got over that when we started playing.
Any how, back to the new amp :-)
This is it, the JCA20H, it looks great and has a blue light on the front.
Plenty loud enough to gig with and at about 10kgs light enough to get places without having to spent the next day in bed. That really is a big plus for me, I've always been quite happy with my MARSHALL TSL601 combo but at about 30 kgs it's just to big for me to get around, so I started looking for something lighter and I found this! It's still a good size, I wouldn't describe it as a Mini-head in the Orange Tiny Terror style, but it's probably 2/3 the size of my old TSL60 but a lot lighter.
But what does it sound like??
Here's a youtube video I put together from a few of my favourite solos from the gig so you can here what it sounds like and marvel at the little blue light!
I'm looking forward to a lot more gigs with this behind me!

Playing at THE UNDERWORLD in CAMDEN 29/03/10 and some pics from Oxford
First two gigs have gone really well.
Next one is is at THE UNDERWORLD in Camden. I've played there a couple of times, but not since 2003.
Last Time was supporting SHEEP ON DRUGS with DUST:RETOX. That show was a bit of a drunken shambles. A good night of glitter covered shirtless fun I guess even if a bit too much tequila was involved and Paulo the guy controlling the samples fucked up literally every time. That was a fun night but I really think THE SOHO COBRAS show is going to be a lot better!
It's also going to be my first gig my my new amp, so I'm looking forward to trying out the JCA20H. More on the new amp though when I can get some video shot.
We're playing on Monday 29th March with NINJA GUN, I think we're on first so get there early.
Tickets available at:
I've also found some cool pics from the gig last Friday in Oxford. There a few examples below or you can check out the whole gallery at Pelicoophotography.com.

"Eugine's Trick Bag" Cover on youtube...
I've had the day off today so I've been playing with my new video camera...
I've finally posted some video on youtube, the first of lots more to come. For now all I've got is a quick cover of the solo "Eugine's Trick Bag," the finale solo from the 1986 film "Crossroads" which stared Steve Vai as the devil's axe man, Jack butler. Anyhow at the end the Karate kid plays this to defeat Mr Butler in a guitar duel and save his soul.
All good wholesome fun, except I've been trying to play it for 4 years!
I learned it note for note about 4 years ago but I've only really been working at getting it up to speed for the last year or so, but I'm finally getting there. Not "there" enough to play it live, or standing up, but "there" enough to video myself playing it in the comfort of my own home and make strangers watch it on the internet.
So here it is me having a go at "Eugine's Trick Bag."

The drunkest most shambolic yet strangely fun gig ever!
Having said that, despite the fact that the night was amazing, the gig itself was a bit of a shambles as the video will show. It turns out that Dave had started drinkingat 9-00am a full 13 hours before we went onstage which with hindsight might not have been such a good idea, but hey, you live and learn. We did have a few technical niggles as well, it was my first gig with my new wireless system and that was giving me a few problem. Rob's advice for the day, NEVER fucking EVER play a gig with a new bit of kit that you haven't plugged in before going on stage. I'll be making sure I have at least one rehearsal to get use to anything I gig with from now on.
We have been invited back though, so when we play again in August we'll definitely be saving the free booze for after we play or maybe just not touch it til an hour before we go on. It was still a fun gig, but not quite the peformance we would have wanted to give. By the last song Steevi had broken 2, yes 2 bass strings and Dave was so fucked that he wasn't playing at all! We still made it through FDR the last track with just one guitar, drums and vocals. Highlights included Dave falling over and even chucking his guitar on the floor.
What a fucking bunch of rock heroes :-)
So here's some fun but very messy live footage from Whisky at The Golden Cross in Coventry.
This is "Shit's going down."
and this is "FDR" with pretty much just one guitar drums and vocals
and here are some pics.

Some video from the last Burnley gig.

Just a quick one.
Steevi has put up some new live footage from a few gigs on youtube.
There's a track recorded at Sanctuary Rock Bar in Burnely. It's called "Heartbreak High," one of our newest tracks that we open the set with now. There's also a couple of tracks from the last gig we did at the Wheatsheaf in Oxford, "Boyz will be Boyz" and "FDR."
There'll be a ton of new stuff to come over the next few days so there will be a lot of new video to follow, including the live debut of my newest Lag Roxane and some footage of Dave falling over and not being able to play after drinking so much he could barely stand.
Enjoy:

A couple of PISTOL KIXX live videos
New amp should be here soon, I'm getting a TSL601 in british racing green. Hpefully it will be getting it's first outing at th gig at Water Rats.
Not a lot eelse been going on, but here are some PISTOL KIXX live videos.
I was using a borrowed head with only one channel so the guitars don't sound great plus you can't hear the solos, but hey... it was good fun.
The new band tee shirts arrived as well.
Cool as fuck!
