VOODOO DORIAN- DORIAN ADD b5

VOODOO DORIAN- DORIAN ADD b5.
 (1,2,b3,4,b5,5,6,b7.)

DORIAN ADD b5, is the 2nd mode of the Bebop Major.

I've been loving goofing around with the Voodoo Blues Scale since I discovered it a while ago. I love the 6 mixing Dorian Mode overtones with blues colours, so I thought it was time to just throw a b5 into the Dorian Mode and see how that sounds.

I was all set to map it all out from scratch when I realised that strictly speaking it was already on here because it is one of the modes of  Bebop Major.

The Dorian Mode contains the intervals: 1,2 b3,4, 5, 6,b7 and adding a b5 to this to give a bluesy feeling results in: 1,2,b3,4,b5,5,6,b7.

So what's all this VOODOO DORIAN nonsense then?

It just so cool that it needs a more rock n roll name than DORIAN ADD b5...

So here's VOODOO DORIAN!

THE DORIAN MODE MAPPED OUT FOR 7 STRING GUITAR

THE DORIAN MODE MAPPED OUT FOR 7 STRING GUITAR next.

There's a lot more scales for 7 string coming soon. I won't be going as crazy as I have for 6 string, but I'll probable cover The Penatatonic Scale, The Blues Scale, All the greek modes, and Harmonic and Melodic Minor and all their modes.

That should be enought to keep you going anyhow.

Before that though, here's  THE DORIAN MODE MAPPED OUT FOR 7 STRING GUITAR.

The free guitar scale diagrams below lay out the DORIAN MODE for you all over the neck of the seven string guitar as a four note per string scale and as the seven three note per string patterns that will link together to let you play it all over the fretboard in any key.

The Dorian mode.

RIP "Machete."

Never before had a cat endured being made to wear so many hats, hastily constructed by drunk people with such good humour...

So, Dorian mode time.

The Dorian mode is made of the the intervals, 1,2,b3,4,5,6,b7.

Of all the Greek Modes, I once read that Spartan soldiers were only allowed to listen to music composed in Dorian, because the other modes were not stern and manly enough, or words to that effect. I should probably check if that was true, but hey!

The Diagrams below lay  out the scale all over the neck, as a four note per string three octave scale and as the seven three note per string shapes that will let you play it all over the neck.
